Mt Difficulty Cellar Door and Restaurant is truly a place for a celebratory affair.  The venue is set amidst Bannockburn’s stark and dramatic grape growing region, within easy reach of fine accommodation in Queenstown, Wanaka and Central Otago.  Known for panoramic views and award winning wines, Mt Difficulty is 45 minutes by road or seven minutes by helicopter from the main centres of the Southern Lakes.

Mt Difficulty Cellar Door and Restaurant offers the tranquility of a private setting featuring excellent food, service and atmosphere.  The contemporary building nestles into Templars Hill, overlooking rugged rock and thyme landscapes, mountains and vineyards. Each season has its own beauty, but autumn (April and May) is perhaps the most scenic; a time of fiery tree foliage in clarets, reds, rich browns and orange.  

Architecturally designed and opened in February 2003, the Cellar Door’s curvature echoes the surrounding landforms. The restaurant and wine tasting area share the interior and can accommodate up to 40 guests for private functions. The outdoor terrace flows directly from the venue, providing a euphoric sense of height and vista.
